Requirement for passport issuance

Nigerian Resident in Thailand and Myanmar, and or Nigerians desirous of reissuance of Passport due to damage, expiry, exhausted pages, can now seek and obtain various services in the Embassy provided they satisfy the following requirements.


Requirements for fresh e-passport issuance abroad

A.   ADULT

  • Application form
  • Two recent passport photographs
  • Birth certificate
  • Local government of origin
  • Duly signed guarantor form with one recent passport photograph, data page of the guarantor’s e-passport, National Identity card or Driver license.

B.   MINORS

  • Application form
  • Two recent passport photographs
  • Birth certificate
  • Letter of consent by both parents attaching data pages of their e-passports
  • Stipulate fee by the Mission

C.   REQUIREMENT FOR FRESH E-PASSPORT FOR MARRIED WOMEN

  • Application form
  • Consent letter from the husband
  • Birth certificate
  • Two recent passport photographs
  • Local of government of origin certificate
  • Duly signed guarantor form with one recent photograph and drivers license of national ID card
  • NOTE:

    If marriage was contracted in Nigeria, the following also applies
    •   a) Sworn court affidavit of change of name due to marriage
    •   b) Newspaper Publication for change of name
    if marriage was contracted in Thailand
    •   a) Evidence of Marriage from Thai Registry Court

    D.   REQUIREMENT FOR EXTENTION OF VALIDITY OF E-PASSPORT

    Personal request from the applicant starting how his/her e-passport got lost
    • Police report and court affidavit for the lost e-passport obtained from the applicant country residence
    • Evidence of payment issued by the mission
    • Data page of the e-passport(s) of the said lost passport(s)

    E.   CHANGE OF NAME DUE TO DIVORCE:

    In addition to the requirement of marriage above, there is the need to bring the following evidence of marriage dissolution:
    • Decree Nisi and decree absolution of marriage that is when the marriage is dissolved in Nigeria but if it is dissolved abroad, the only requirement is to forward the Authentic court ruling by both respondents in the dissolution of their marriage

    F.   CHANGE OF NAME DUE TO FAMILY RESOLUTION

    • Personal request of applicant starting why the family resolution to change their name
    • Evidence of deed poll of change of name due to family resolution obtained from the country of residence
    • Data page/pages of their e-passport
    • Birth certificate
    • Evidence of administrative charge of change of data (to be source locally on Nigeria)
    • Any other supporting documents to buttress his/her claims

    G.   CHANGE OF DATE OF BIRTH

    In addition to the above requirement application desiring to change his/her date of birth shall note the following:-
    • Change of date of birth should be reasonable in the age difference
    • That change of date of birth can only be changed based on genuine and proven facts submitted as document

    NOTE:

    That request of change of dated of birth from United Kingdom and USA will not be entertained if date of birth has already been submitted to both countries it can be changed only if the date of birth submitted in these countries is the one that applicant desires to change based on its genuinely and proving facts and truly attracts administrative change

    H.   CHANGE OF DATA ON A LOST E-PASSPORT

    • Encompasses all requirements for change of data but inclusive the police report and court affidavit of loss of e-passport

    I.   CHANGE OF DATA DUE TO CRIMINAL INTENT

    • It is punishable under Passport Miscellaneous Offences Act and Penalty on Immigration Act of 2015 as amended.

    J.   REQUEST FOR EMERGENCY TRAVEL CERTIFICATE

    Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) is a document issued to Nigerians living abroad including Thailand, who have lost their passports in order to facilitate their return to Nigeria. Note that ETC is a security travel document valid for one way journey to Nigeria only without any transit stop.
    • Requirements for obtaining an ETC include:
    • Proof of Nigerian citizenship
    • Verification of Immigration Check/Entry into Thailand
    • Police Report
    • One way Ticket to Nigeria


    Important notice for issuance of e-passports

    The following important information is for the general public seeking the services of the Mission:

    • 1. All requests for passport applications are online using the website of the Nigerian Immigration Service: http://www.immigration.gov.ng
    • 2. Processing passport is to be completed and payment made online. Additional fee of $250 (two hundred and fifty dollars) as penalty for loss of passport will be charged before a new passport is processed.
    • 3. Replacement of lost passport by Mission is only possible after clearance is obtained from the Nigerian Immigration Services, Abuja and is accompanied with a Police report.
    • 4. Note that Embassy will not provide internet services for applicants; ensure that your payment receipt page is printed out and brought along with you. Processing of passports is strictly on first come basis
    • 5. The working hours of Immigration Section of the Embassy are from 11.00 am – 3.00 pm;
      • Days for processing E-Passport: Tuesday and Thursday;
      • • Days for processing Visa: Monday and Wednesday, except on public holidays.


    Mailing Instructions

    All applications to be submitted by mail must be sent via an envelope with a tracking number. The application must also have a self-addressed prepaid FEDEX, UPS, or USPS EXPRESS MAIL return envelope. All visa applications posted to the Embassy MUST HAVE TRACKING NUMBERS.
